Lion’s Paw® Golf Links Re-opens with Brand New MiniVerde™ Greens.
One of the Grand Strand area’s all-time favorite golf courses has re-opened with 18 brand new greens. The putting surfaces at Lion’s Paw Golf Links, the original Big Cats course at Ocean Ridge Plantation, have been converted to MiniVerde™ ultra-dwarf Bermuda greens, which feature an unmatched combination of smooth, consistent playability and disease-resistant, heat-tolerant durability.
The course had been closed since July 4 to allow ample time for the new greens to mature properly before re-opening on August 31, in time for The GOLF.com World Amateur Handicap Championship. This greens conversion process will bring consistency in putting surfaces between Lion’s Paw and Panther’s Run Golf Links, which was converted to MiniVerde™ in 2010. These two courses operate out of the same clubhouse and will share a MiniVerde™ practice putting green.
MiniVerde™ is one of the newest of the ultra dwarf grasses and is currently being used at many of the nation’s top golf facilities, including the TPC Course at Sawgrass, home of the PGA Tour’s THE PLAYERS® Championship.
Lion’s PawGolf Links opened in 1991, paving the way for the current quartet of Big Cats courses at Ocean Ridge Plantation. It was joined by Panther’s RunGolf Links in 1994, Tiger’s Eye® Golf Links in 2000 and Leopard’s Chase Golf Club in 2007.
